Under the constitution, exercise powers according to the rule of law. Which involves separation of powers with an elected head of state. The representative of the republic is democracy. The state to which it refers to a constitutional republic or representative democracy.

Why celebrate Republic Day ?

Republic Day is celebrated all over the country of India. The main reason for celebrating it is that the Constitution of our country came into force on this day. It was started in December 1929 under the chairmanship of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and completed in Lahore. The session of the Indian National Congress helped in its completion. When our country became independent, the constitution was implemented on 26 January 1950.

There is complete history from the beginning of the constitution till the end. The history of the Constitution is very interesting. The country of India was challenged to make its own constitution. Which the Indians did. Its complete history is given below. You can read it in detail.

History of Constitution

On 8 November 1987, the British Government sent Simon Commission to India. The full name of this was the Indian Statutory Commission, which was headed by John Simon. That is why it was named Simon Commission. The purpose of the commission was how constitutional changes would be done in India. A road map should be prepared for this.

Basically the Simon Commission had to see how the Montagu Chelmsford Reforms of 1919 were working and what changes would need to be brought in them in future. If there was no Indian member in the Simon Commission, then the people of India were very angry with this.

The people of India protested against this and gave the slogan of Go Back to Simon. In view of the opposition to the Simon Commission, the Minister of Indian Affairs in England, Lord Bracken Head, put forward this challenge that if you think that you can make a constitution, not the Simon Commission, then do one thing, you should make the constitution of your country yourself.

We challenge all the political parties of India to decide the path of the constitution of your country with the consent of all, keeping in mind all you Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs. We also see that you can make a constitution or sit down to fight. Indian political parties accepted this challenge of Bracken.

All Conference Party was formed. In which the largest party was the Indian National Congress. They met in February 1928 and a committee was formed under the chairmanship of Motilal Nehru.

The task was given to this committee to prepare a firearm. How will the constitutional changes in India go ahead and the report prepared by this committee was named ‘Nehru Report 1928’. In this report, a demand was placed in front of the British government that the same Dominion Status as Australia had been given to Canada at that time should be given to India.

Dominion status will be a status in which India will have autonomy in some cases and in some cases it will not be autonomous. In this way India will be attached to the British Empire. The internal governor will be in the hands of the whole of India. But immediately like relations or army As the decision will be taken by the British Government only. India demanded from the British Government about such Dominion Status

The demand for Dominion Status was Motilal Nehru, the senior Congress leader at that time. But the young leaders of Congress at that time like Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose were not at all happy with this demand. He said that we do not even want dominion status.

We want complete independence. If we stopped at Dominion Status, we would not have complete freedom. This was understood by the young leaders at that time. The young leaders of Congress then established their own party ‘Independence for India League’.

It was a part of the Congress party itself. But he pressurized the senior leaders that you should not demand Dominion Status but Purna Swaraj. When the Nehru Report demanded Dominion Status, the British Government accepted the proposal. But the date was not fixed. But eventually you will be given the status. This promise was made by the Viceroy Arvind in India at that time.

when is republic day

This announcement is made around the time of Diwali 1929 and this is also called ‘Diwali Declaration’. At the same time, due to the change of the British government, the British government was not approved to give Dominion status or any kind of autonomy to India. Arvind could not do anything due to the change of government. This makes the Congress leaders of India very angry. Later the leadership of Congress leaders like Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru rejected the demand for status and demanded complete independence.

In December 1929, the Congress government session was held in Lahore. In this Lahore session, the talk of complete independence is said and in this session on 31 December 1929 their demand is accepted. It is said by Congress leaders that “civil disobedience” will be launched if we do not get complete Swaraj.

On the night of December 31, 1929, Congress leaders cross the Ravi river and take the water of the river in their hands and take a pledge that we will not rest until we liberate the country.
Thus the convention ends. At that time all the leaders decided that on 26 January 1930, the whole country would be celebrated and by then this thing would be told in the whole country. 26th January will be celebrated as Purna Swaraj by giving independence.

Then across the river Ravi raised slogans of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’. The English government was asked to give us complete independence by March 1930, otherwise “civil disobedience” would be imposed. In this way 26 January was celebrated as Purna Swaraj. In 1947, when India was about to get independence, it was estimated that independence would be achieved in january. But due to some reasons, India got independence on 15 August 1947. From this day onwards the name of the Viceroy has vanished.

But the office of the Governor General continues and the Governor General appointed will be appointed by the British Government. But he did not have the right to appoint anyone. In the meantime, Jawaharlal Nehru ji wrote a letter and said that rajendra prasad should be made governor. Which was signed by the British Government. India of Independence said that India will make its own constitution.

After that, in 2 years 11 months 18 days, the Constitution of India was prepared by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, which was fully prepared on 26 November 1949. After this, the Constitution of India was implemented on 26 January 1950, this day we still consider this day as 26 January (Republic Day).
